FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

some answers for you

WHAT IS COACHING?

It is an intentional conversation that takes someone to a place they’ve never been before, and challenges them to do something new when they get there. Results get achieved. The client learns about themselves and the world they thrive in. It’s powerful. Life changing. Coaches make things happen by moving growth.

HOW IS COACHING DIFFERENT THAN COUNSELING?

Counseling is healing wounds from the past, either in childhood or previous relationships. It's primarily focused on psychology, past behaviors and disorders. Where coaching is examining the present time, with some reference to what has not worked in the past, and working on moving growth forward with a set vision, goals and strategy around. Coaching to me simply means creating balance and keeping in connection to honor our passion and gifts.

IS THERE CONFIDENTIALITY IN COACHING?

Absolutely, confidentiality is paramount. It is the coach’s duty to not disclose any information obtained during the course of the coaching relationship without the express permission of the client.

WHAT DOES COACHING ASK OF THE CLIENT?

Be motivated to change and willing to try things in a different way. Be open to influence, willing to work between sessions, and be committed to the process for at least three months to experience corrective experiences.

WHO ARE THE CLIENTS YOU SERVE?

Everyone and anyone that is ready to create change. You are in the drivers seat.

HOW MANY COACHING SESSIONS DO I NEED?

Transformation takes time. Your level of commitment will determine your success. More commonly, 6-12 months are recommended to better support the clients goals. The duration will be agreed upon at the beginning of the coaching agreement.

CAN I HAVE SESSIONS ONLINE OR BY PHONE?

Coaching sessions are available in person, over the telephone or by video conferencing.

WHY DID YOU START YOUR COACHING PRACTICE?

I see the need for human connection and the power in being vulnerable with others. I want to bring that experience to as many as possible. The goal of my practice is simply to anchor people to their own internal strengths and character applying emotional intelligence to the seasons of life and work.

I have a deep commitment to getting the best out of people, influencing people towards a common mission and moving growth. I will commit to you this: 1) listen deeply, 2) question boldly, and 3) challenge action immediately.

I will walk beside you, but I won’t tell you what to do. I will help you figure out deep down what to do, and trust me, you will blow your own mind.

WHAT ARE SESSIONS LIKE?

We dive in right from the start. The first session is a “get to know you” process so we can learn about one another. It’s a judgement free zone that is full of grace. We review your pre-coaching survey that you complete prior to our first meeting that covers where you are in your career, relationships, and experiences. From there, we will create a coaching plan that will consist of weekly (or biweekly) talks, email communication and some behind the scenes work for you, the client.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "BEHIND THE SCENES" WORK?

The process could include character assessments, 360 evaluations, Emotional Intelligence Assessments — all in strategy to gather data to increase emotional intelligence. Books for reading may be suggested, as well as various behavior practices to create experiences that create change. However, the real power is in the relationship and our discovery time together.

ANY OTHER TIPS?

1) Find the feeling of energy behind the behavior change. Finding energy behind resolving your dilemmas and achieving your goals is some of the fuel that drives coaching. You will be inspired by yourself.

2) Take immediate ownership of the transformation process. The coach is not going to change you. You will change yourself and the coach will provide a structured format, accountability, and support to allow the transformation. The goals that are developed should ultimately propel you to the type of integrity and leadership you desire for yourself.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THE FIRST SESSION?

It’s simple. Complete the pre-coaching survey.

Show up for the first session.

We journey together from there.
